USDT0 is now live on Stellar
The Stellar Development Foundation announced on September 2, 2026, that USDT0 is live on the Stellar network. The deployment brings an interoperable version of Tether's USDT liquidity to Stellar through LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard.

USDT0 is not issued or guaranteed by the Stellar Development Foundation. Stellar's launch notice explicitly says USDT0 and USDT are issued and managed by third parties.
2. The Stellar asset code alone is not enough to identify the token
Stellar permits multiple assets to share the same code. The developer documentation therefore warns users to identify USDT0 by both its code and issuer.
For ordinary Stellar accounts, receiving the asset requires a trustline to the official USDT0 asset. Smart contracts interact with the corresponding Stellar Asset Contract. A wallet showing the letters "USDT0" without the reviewed issuer is not sufficient proof that it is the official asset.

3. Cross-chain completion depends on more than Stellar's ledger speed

The technical documentation says a transfer waits for the source chain to reach the finality required by the configured decentralized verifier networks. An executor must then deliver the verified message to the destination endpoint before the destination asset is credited.
As a result, users should distinguish three states:
- the source-chain transaction was accepted;
- the cross-chain message was verified and delivered; and
- the destination wallet or platform credited the asset.
A source transaction hash is evidence that the first step occurred. It is not, by itself, proof that the receiving exchange or wallet has completed the credit.
4. Amount precision can change when value crosses chains
Stellar assets support seven decimal places, while the USDT0 OFT uses six shared decimals across connected chains. Stellar's documentation says cross-chain amounts are normalized to that six-decimal shared precision.
This means an amount that uses Stellar's seventh decimal place may be rounded when bridged. Applications that expect to transfer balances across networks should account for that precision boundary so small residual amounts are not stranded.
Transfer fees are also route-specific. The developer guide tells integrations to query the current quote instead of relying on a hardcoded fee. Users should review the amount to be sent, the amount expected at the destination, and the required XLM messaging fee before approving a transfer.
5. Launch availability is broad but still platform-specific
The September 2 announcement names BiLira Kripto, Bitget Wallet, Fireblocks, Freighter, Kraken, Kredete, Lobstr, Meru, Ramp Network, and SushiSwap as available launch integrations. It says Exodus is expected to follow.
That list is a launch statement, not a guarantee that every service is available in every country or supports every operation. A platform may support buying or holding without supporting cross-chain withdrawals. 6. The real test is usable liquidity, not the launch headline
The Stellar Development Foundation said the USDT0 network had processed more than $100 billion of total value across 29 connected blockchain ecosystems since January 2025. It also said Stellar had processed more than $40 billion during 2026. Those figures come from the launch participants and were not independently verified in the announcement.
They provide scale context, but they do not prove that every Stellar market will have deep liquidity or low slippage.
